HubSpot AEO is the cheapest paid way into this category and, for a lot of teams, the one that arrives without a purchase order. At $50 a month with no HubSpot plan required, it costs less than a tenth of what the mid-market platforms charge, and if your marketing already lives in HubSpot it is a checkbox rather than a new vendor. The interesting question is not whether it is cheap. It is what $50 buys, and where the number stops being the point.
This review covers what HubSpot AEO does, what the plan includes (prices checked August 2026), how the free grader differs from the paid product, and who should and should not buy it. Disclosure: we build a competing product, and the comparison section says so. Everything else comes from HubSpot's published product and pricing pages and its own launch material.
TL;DR: HubSpot AEO gives you a visibility score, prompt tracking, citation analysis, competitor share of voice and prioritised recommendations across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity for $50/mo, with a genuinely free one-time grader before that. The ceiling is 25 prompts, three engines and no Claude, and — outside Marketing Hub — the recommendations stop at telling you. It is the best first $50 in the category and rarely the last tool you buy.
What HubSpot AEO Is
HubSpot announced AEO at its Spring 2026 Spotlight in April 2026 as its answer to brands losing discovery to AI assistants. It ships in two forms, and mixing them up is the most common mistake in comparisons of it:
- HubSpot AEO, the standalone product — $50/mo, no HubSpot plan required. This is what most people buying it get.
- AEO embedded in Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise — the same tracking, plus two things the standalone version does not have: prompt suggestions generated from your own CRM data, and recommendations wired to execution, so you can create content, publish social posts or update existing pages without leaving HubSpot.
Both give you the same four surfaces: a brand visibility score and its trend, prompt tracking, citation analysis showing which sources the engines drew from, and prioritised recommendations — plus competitor share of voice and sentiment.
HubSpot AEO Pricing (Checked August 2026)
| HubSpot AEO (standalone) | AEO in Marketing Hub | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $50/mo, or $45/mo billed annually | Included with Pro and Enterprise |
| HubSpot plan required | No | Yes |
| Prompts | 25 included, more purchasable | 25 included, more purchasable |
| Engines | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity |
| Free trial | Yes, no credit card | — |
| CRM-suggested prompts | No | Yes |
| Act on recommendations in-product | No | Yes |
There is also a free trial that tracks all 25 prompts across all three engines with no card, and additional prompts can be bought at any time with no stated cap.
Two readings of that table are worth having:
- $50 for 25 prompts is $2 per tracked prompt per month. Measured that way it is not remarkably cheap — Scrunch's Starter works out well under a dollar a prompt, Athena HQ's free tier is nothing at all. What HubSpot is actually selling cheaply is the floor: the smallest possible commitment to find out whether you have a problem.
- The Marketing Hub version is a materially different product. CRM-suggested prompts are the one genuinely novel thing here — HubSpot knows what your customers asked your sales team, which is a better starting point for a prompt set than guessing. If you are already on Marketing Hub Pro, evaluate that version. If you are buying standalone, do not credit it with features you will not get.
How HubSpot AEO Works Day to Day
You define prompts — the questions a buyer would type into an assistant — and HubSpot runs them across the three engines and records whether, where and how favourably your brand appears. The dashboard leads with a visibility score and its trend line, then breaks down into competitive share of voice, the sentiment of the mentions, and the citations behind each answer.
Recommendations are prioritised and mostly on-page: this content is thin, this question is unanswered, this page is the one engines already reach for. On Marketing Hub they become buttons. Standalone, they become a list you take somewhere else.
Twenty-five prompts is the constraint that shapes everything. It sounds like a lot until you write them out: five real buyer questions across five variations, or five questions benchmarked against four competitors, and the plan is spent. You will end up prioritising ruthlessly, which is not entirely a bad discipline, but it does mean the tool measures a narrow slice of your category rather than its shape.
The Free AI Search Grader
Worth calling out separately, because it is one of the few genuinely free things in this category that is not a lead-capture form. HubSpot's AI Search Grader — also published as the AEO Grader — runs your brand against ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini and scores five dimensions: sentiment, presence quality, brand recognition, share of voice and market position. No account, no card, no setup.
It is a one-time snapshot, not tracking. That is exactly the right shape for the first question most people have, and it is the honest recommendation before spending anything at all — including on us.
What HubSpot AEO Does Well
The lowest credible entry price in the category. $50/mo, $45 annual, and no platform subscription behind it. Nothing else with three engines and prioritised recommendations comes in under that.
A free grader that is actually free. Five scored dimensions, three engines, no account. Most vendor "free tools" are worth less.
CRM-powered prompts, if you are on Marketing Hub. Building a prompt set from what your buyers actually asked, rather than from what you imagine they type, is a real advantage and nobody else has the data to do it.
Recommendations connected to execution — in the same place. Again, Marketing Hub only. But a recommendation that turns into a published page without a handoff is worth more than a better recommendation in a PDF.
It is HubSpot. Procurement, security review, billing and admin are already solved. For a lot of teams that is the difference between running this next quarter and not running it.
Where HubSpot AEO Stops
25 prompts is the whole ceiling. You can buy more, but the plan is designed around a small set. If your category has several buyer personas or you want competitor benchmarking on every question, you will hit the wall in week one.
Three engines, and no Claude. ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity is a reasonable majority of the traffic and an incomplete picture. Claude, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek and Copilot are all absent, and so is any separate view of Google AI Mode versus AI Overviews.
Standalone recommendations stop at advice. The execution layer that makes the Marketing Hub version compelling is precisely the part you do not get for $50.
Multi-brand is not a concept here. Each brand needs its own subscription and there is no consolidated view across them, which prices agencies out on workflow grounds long before cost — five clients is five separate logins.
It measures your visibility, not what you own. Like every on-page-first tool, HubSpot AEO tells you which sources the engines cited and leaves getting onto those sources to you. Ahrefs' study of 75,000 brands found branded web mentions correlate about three times more strongly with AI visibility than backlinks do, and a large share of ChatGPT citations land on third-party "best of" pages — the ones you cannot edit, publish to, or fix with a content recommendation.
It is new. Announced in April 2026, which means there is not yet a deep independent review record the way there is for Profound or Scrunch. Weigh early write-ups accordingly, this one included.
HubSpot AEO vs Sightivo
We make Sightivo, so weigh this section accordingly.
| HubSpot AEO | Sightivo | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $50/mo, $45 annual | $99/mo, unlimited seats |
| Engines | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity | ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Overviews |
| Prompts | 25, more purchasable | 40 prompt checks/mo on Solo, 100 Indie, 200 Studio |
| Free option | AI Search Grader, one-time snapshot | Free AI visibility checker, 5 prompts |
| Prompt design | CRM-suggested on Marketing Hub; manual standalone | You build the set |
| What happens after a gap is found | Prioritised on-page recommendations; executable inside Marketing Hub | Drafts the missing page, lists the sources AI cites, finds the authors and contacts, drafts the outreach, sends it from a built-in inbox |
| Multi-brand | One subscription per brand | Solo 2 projects, Indie 4, Studio 10 |
The honest summary: HubSpot AEO is half the price and, if you are on Marketing Hub, better wired into where your content already gets published. It watches a narrower engine list with a fifth of the prompts, and it works on the pages you control. We do the off-site half — the roundups AI quotes, the people who write them, the pitch. If your content is on HubSpot and your problem is knowing what to write next, HubSpot AEO is a sensible $50. If your problem is that ChatGPT recommends five competitors from someone else's listicle, neither the score nor the recommendation gets you onto it.
HubSpot AEO Alternatives

When HubSpot AEO Is the Right Choice
- You are already on Marketing Hub Pro or Enterprise. You have it. The CRM-suggested prompts and in-product execution are the version worth having, and there is no reason not to turn it on.
- You want the smallest possible paid commitment to find out whether AI assistants know your brand.
- Your prompt set is genuinely small — one product, one buyer, a handful of questions that matter.
- Adding a vendor is harder for you than adding $50 to an existing invoice.
- You want a free, no-account snapshot first: run the AI Search Grader before you decide anything.
When to Look Elsewhere
- You need more than 25 prompts and buying them one at a time is not how you want to be priced.
- Claude, Copilot, Grok or Meta AI matter in your category.
- You are an agency, or you track more than one brand.
- You want attribution — HubSpot AEO reports visibility, not the traffic or pipeline that came from it.
- The action you need is a mention on a page you do not own.
Common Questions
How much does HubSpot AEO cost?
HubSpot AEO is $50/mo standalone with no HubSpot plan required, or $45/mo billed annually. That includes 25 tracked prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and additional prompts can be purchased with no stated cap. It is also included with Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise, where it adds CRM-suggested prompts and in-product execution. There is a free trial with no credit card. Prices checked August 2026.
Does HubSpot AEO have a free version?
There is a free trial of the paid product with no credit card, and separately the AI Search Grader — a one-time snapshot that scores sentiment, presence quality, brand recognition, share of voice and market position across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini with no account required. The grader does not track over time; the paid product does.
What engines does HubSpot AEO track?
ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI and DeepSeek are not covered, and there is no separate breakout of Google AI Mode versus AI Overviews. If your category depends on any of those, check Athena HQ or the wider comparison in best AEO tools.
Do I need HubSpot to use HubSpot AEO?
No. The standalone product is $50/mo with no HubSpot plan behind it. But two of its better features — prompt suggestions built from your CRM data, and recommendations you can execute without leaving the tool — only exist in the Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise version.
Is 25 prompts enough?
For a single product with one clear buyer, it can be. For anything with several personas, or if you want competitor benchmarking on each question, it is not — five questions benchmarked against four competitors consumes the whole allowance. Prompts are purchasable, so the real question is what your set costs once it is the size you actually need.
HubSpot AEO vs Profound: which is better?
Different weight classes. Profound has deeper citation analysis, real prompt-volume research and a much larger prompt ceiling, and its Growth plan is $399/mo. HubSpot AEO is $50 for 25 prompts across three engines and is aimed at teams who want a baseline rather than a research platform. If you are choosing between them on price you are probably not the same buyer twice — see our Profound review.
What does HubSpot AEO not do?
It does not track Claude or the smaller assistants, does not consolidate multiple brands, does not connect visibility to site traffic or pipeline, and does not identify the third-party pages AI cites where you are missing or help you get onto them. Standalone, it also does not execute its own recommendations.
Key Takeaways
- HubSpot AEO is the cheapest credible paid entry in the category: $50/mo ($45 annual) for 25 prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, with no HubSpot plan required.
- The free AI Search Grader is a real one-time snapshot with no account, and the right first step before paying anyone.
- The Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise version is a better product — CRM-suggested prompts and recommendations you can act on in place. Do not credit the $50 tier with those.
- The ceiling is low by design: 25 prompts, three engines, no Claude, one brand per subscription, no attribution.
- Recommendations stop at pages you own, which is the half of AI visibility that on-page work cannot reach.
