Otterly AI Review (2026): Is the $29 Plan Enough?

Otterly AI review: $29 Lite to $489 Premium, what the Claude, Gemini and AI Mode add-ons really cost, prompt limits, user reviews, and who it fits.

Jess O'Malley, author at Sightivo

Otterly AI is the on-ramp to AI search visibility. At $29/mo it is the cheapest credible way to find out whether ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot mention your brand, and for a lot of small teams that is exactly the question they need answered. It also has a much larger paid customer base than its price suggests: the company reports more than 30,000 users, and it holds one of the biggest review counts in the category on G2.

This review covers what Otterly does, exactly what each plan includes and what the add-ons cost (prices checked August 2026), what users say, and where teams tend to outgrow it. Disclosure: we build a competing product and the comparison section says so. Everything else is based on Otterly's published plans, documentation and public user reviews — we have not run it on a paid plan ourselves.

TL;DR: Otterly is good value at the bottom of the ladder and ordinary value further up. Lite at $29/mo gives you 15 prompts across four engines with unlimited team members; Standard at $189/mo gives you 100 prompts plus API and MCP access. Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are paid add-ons on every tier, prompt caps are tight, and — like nearly every tool in the category — it reports and stops. Buy it if you need a number on a dashboard for the least money. Move on when 15 prompts is too few, when the add-ons erode the price, or when you realise a monitor was never going to change what ChatGPT says.

What Otterly AI Is

Otterly AI (otterly.ai), built by OtterlyAI GmbH in Austria, monitors brand mentions, links and sentiment across AI search engines and refreshes daily. Its distinctive idea is that you should not have to build a prompt library from scratch: it converts your existing SEO keywords and URLs into prompts. Around that it offers:

  • Prompt tracking across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot on every plan, with Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode as add-ons.
  • Brand Visibility Index and competitor share of voice.
  • Citation and source tracking — which URLs are cited, with a link-tracking view for your own pages.
  • GEO URL audits — page-level checks with recommendations, 1,000 to 10,000 a month depending on plan.
  • ChatGPT ads tracking and, on higher plans, AI-agent traffic analytics, an API and MCP access, and Looker Studio export.
  • Multi-country support across 50+ countries and unlimited team members on every plan.

G2 named Otterly a High Performer in its Answer Engine Optimization category in the Winter 2026 report, and it was a Gartner Cool Vendor for AI in Marketing in 2025.

Otterly AI Pricing (Checked August 2026)

From otterly.ai/pricing. Monthly rates first; annual billing is roughly 15% less.

Extra prompts are $99 per 100 on Standard and Premium. Every plan has unlimited team members, 50+ countries, a free trial and monthly cancellation. Lite is limited to one workspace; Standard and Premium have unlimited workspaces.

What to read into it:

  1. Lite is the real bargain, and it is small. Fifteen prompts is one product in one market. It is enough to learn whether you exist in AI answers, not enough to manage it.
  2. The add-ons change the maths fast. Lite with Claude is $58/mo; Standard with all three add-ons is $416/mo — more than Peec's Advanced plan, for 100 prompts. Google AI Mode being an add-on matters because that is where Google is steering search.
  3. Standard is where the product gets serious — API, MCP, unlimited workspaces, agent analytics — and $189 is no longer the budget option. At that price Peec Starter (50 prompts, 3 models, $95 monthly) and Sightivo Solo ($99, 3 engines) are the comparisons.

How Otterly AI Works Day to Day

You connect a domain, paste in keywords or URLs, and Otterly proposes prompts from them — the fastest setup in the category. You confirm the prompt list within your plan cap, pick the country, and tracking starts; results refresh daily.

The dashboard shows the Brand Visibility Index (your share of mentions against competitors), per-prompt results for each engine with the cited links, sentiment, and a link-tracking view that flags when one of your own URLs is cited. GEO URL audits run against pages you choose and return on-page recommendations. On Standard and above you get the API and MCP endpoints, agent traffic analytics, and Looker Studio export for reporting.

What is missing is any off-site step: no author or contact discovery, no outreach, no content drafting. Otterly is built to be checked, not worked in, and for the price that is a reasonable trade.

What Otterly AI Does Well

Price of entry. Nothing credible is cheaper. For a founder who wants to know, this month, whether ChatGPT names them, $29 is the right amount to spend.

Keyword-to-prompt conversion. Building a prompt set is the least glamorous part of AI visibility work; Otterly does a usable first pass from the keywords and URLs you already have.

Unlimited seats everywhere. Rare at any price in this category, and unheard of at $29.

A wide base of happy users. G2 shows a 4.8 out of 5 rating across more than 250 reviews, and the praise is consistent: easy to set up, does what it says, responsive support. Independent reviewers converge on the same verdict — a clean self-serve tool for marketers who want to start measuring fast.

API and MCP on Standard. If you want to pull visibility data into your own reporting or an AI agent, Otterly gives you a route at a price the enterprise tools do not.

Where Otterly AI Stops

Fifteen prompts runs out. The most common reason people upgrade or leave is the Lite cap. The next step is $189.

The engines that are growing are the ones that cost extra. Google AI Mode and Gemini as add-ons on every tier, Claude at $29 to $439 depending on plan. The "four engines for $29" headline is true, but the four are not the four most teams would pick in 2026.

It reports and stops. Otterly tells you that you are absent from an answer and which URLs were cited. It does not find the author of those pages, their contact, or write the pitch; the GEO audits are on-page recommendations. The off-site half is where the leverage is — Ahrefs' 75,000-brand study found branded mentions correlate about three times more strongly with AI visibility than backlinks, and roughly 44% of ChatGPT citations go to "best of" lists — and Otterly leaves it to you.

Source analysis is thin at the top end. Teams that need citation-level detail, personas or agency-grade client reporting tend to describe outgrowing Otterly within a few months.

What Users Say

The pattern across G2 and independent reviews: strong on ease, price and support; weak on depth and on what to do next. The recurring phrase is some version of "great for getting started." Reviews comparing it with Peec call Otterly cheaper and faster to set up, Peec prettier and better on sources; reviews comparing it with Profound call it a different product for a different buyer.

The honest framing: Otterly is the cheaper monitor and the better one if you want an API. Sightivo costs more at entry and is built for the team that has to change the number — Claude included rather than a $29 add-on, and the pages-sources-outreach loop that Otterly leaves to you. Three engines rather than four (plus add-ons), and volumes sized for one brand rather than unlimited workspaces.

Otterly AI Alternatives

Peec AI for cleaner dashboards and better source views from about $80/mo with unlimited seats. Athena HQ for a free tier and nine engines on the paid plan, with recommendations. Nightwatch if you want Google rank tracking in the same cheap tool. Profound or Scrunch if you need enterprise depth. Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit if you already pay for Semrush. Sightivo if you want to keep a startup budget and start changing the score. Prices, coverage and what each does with the data: best Otterly AI alternatives.

When Otterly AI Is the Right Choice

  • You need a number on a dashboard for the least money and 15 prompts covers your product.
  • You already have a content and PR process and want a cheap monitor feeding it.
  • You want API or MCP access to pull visibility data into your own tooling, at Standard-plan prices.
  • You have many collaborators and would rather not pay per seat.

When to Look Elsewhere

  • You have outgrown 15 prompts and $189 for the next 85 feels steep.
  • Google AI Mode, Gemini or Claude are core engines for your buyers, not add-ons.
  • You need citation-level source analysis or client-grade reporting.
  • You want the tool to hand you the page to write and the person to email.

Is Otterly AI worth it?

At $29 for a first look at your AI visibility, yes — it is the cheapest credible option and the reviews are strong. At $189 and above, compare carefully: Peec offers better reporting for similar money, and tools that act on the data start at the same price.

Yes, every plan offers a free trial, and plans can be cancelled monthly. There is no permanently free plan.

ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot are included on every plan. Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are available as paid add-ons per tier.

Who is Otterly AI for?

Small marketing teams, founders and agencies that want to start measuring AI search visibility quickly and cheaply, and developers who want visibility data over an API or MCP without an enterprise contract.

What are the best Otterly AI alternatives?

Peec AI (better reporting, unlimited seats), Athena HQ (free tier, nine engines, recommendations), Nightwatch (rank tracking plus LLM tracking), Profound and Scrunch (enterprise depth), Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit (for Semrush customers), and Sightivo (acts on the gaps). Otterly AI vs Peec AI: which should I choose?

Otterly is cheaper to start ($29 vs about $80 to $95) and converts your keywords into prompts for you. Peec has cleaner dashboards, better source analysis and 50 prompts on its entry plan. Both are monitoring tools; if you want something that acts on the gaps, neither is the answer.

Key Takeaways

  • Otterly AI is the cheapest credible AI search monitor: $29/mo for 15 prompts across four engines, unlimited team members, a real trial.
  • The four included engines skip Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude, which are paid add-ons on every tier; Standard with all three is $416/mo.
  • Users rate it 4.8/5 across 250+ G2 reviews and praise ease and support; the recurring limits are the prompt caps and the absence of any action beyond on-page audits.
  • Standard at $189 adds API, MCP, unlimited workspaces and agent analytics — and moves it out of the budget bracket.
  • Right for a first look and for cheap monitoring feeding an existing PR process; wrong for teams that need the tool to change the number.
