Scrunch AI Review (2026): Pricing, Features, Pros and Cons
Scrunch AI review: $250 to $500/mo plans, persona prompts, page audits and crawler analytics — plus what the Sitecore acquisition changes for buyers.
Scrunch is the AI visibility platform that stopped being a startup. In June 2026 it was acquired by Sitecore, the digital-experience software company, and it now sells as part of a suite rather than as a scrappy alternative to Profound. For a buyer that changes the question. It is no longer "will this company still exist in two years" — it is "will the standalone product I am buying still get built."
This review covers what Scrunch does, what each plan costs (prices checked August 2026), what the acquisition changes, and who it is and is not for. Disclosure: we build a competing product, and the comparison section is labelled as such. Everything else comes from Scrunch's and Sitecore's published material, independent reviews and public pricing trackers — we have not run Scrunch on a paid plan.
TL;DR: Scrunch is a mid-market and enterprise GEO platform with genuinely generous prompt allowances, persona modelling, on-page audits and some of the best AI-crawler analytics in the category. It has no plan under $250/mo, its engine coverage per tier has moved around during 2026, and its action layer stops at pages you own. Buy it if you are a brand team — especially a Sitecore customer — with people to act on audits. Look elsewhere if you are a small team, if you need multi-brand without an enterprise contract, or if you want the tool to earn the off-site mentions rather than count them.
What Scrunch AI Is
Scrunch (scrunch.com) tracks how brands appear inside AI assistants and answer engines, and audits the pages those engines read. It describes itself as an AI Customer Experience Platform, built around an Agent Experience Platform (AXP) — the idea being that AI agents, not just people, are now an audience your site has to serve. In practice the product has four parts:
- Visibility tracking — mention rate, position, sentiment and share of voice for your prompt set, per engine, over time.
- Persona-based prompts — prompt sets modelled by buyer persona, plus a large library of pre-built industry prompts alongside the custom ones you write.
- Page audits — concrete, on-page recommendations for how AI engines parse and quote your content.
- Agent and crawler analytics — which AI crawlers hit which pages, how often, paired with a view of AI referral traffic.
Scrunch was founded in 2023 and, at the time of the acquisition, said it served more than 500 brands and agencies, naming Lenovo, Skims, Crunchbase and Penn State among them.
What the Sitecore Acquisition Changes
Sitecore announced the acquisition on 3 June 2026, pairing Scrunch's AXP with its own digital-experience platform. Sitecore did not publish the financial terms; Bloomberg reported the deal at about $225 million, citing people familiar with the matter.
Scrunch's own announcement is reassuring on the near term: the platform continues to be sold standalone, existing customers and partners keep their contracts, and the roadmap is expected to accelerate with Sitecore's resources behind it. Nothing has to change today for a customer who does not use Sitecore.
The honest caveat is the one that applies to every strategic acquisition in this category: the buyer bought Scrunch to make Sitecore more valuable, and over a two-to-three-year horizon roadmaps tend to follow that logic. If you are signing an annual contract as a non-Sitecore customer, ask for the standalone roadmap commitment in writing. If you are a Sitecore customer, the acquisition is straightforwardly good news — this is the one AI visibility tool that will be natively wired into your CMS.
Scrunch AI Pricing (Checked August 2026)
Scrunch publishes two self-serve plans and a custom Enterprise tier on scrunch.com/pricing. Annual billing is about 17% cheaper — the usual "two months free".
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Seats | Custom prompts | Industry prompts | Personas | Page audits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $300/mo | $250/mo | 3 | 350 | 1,000 | 3 | 5 |
| Growth | $500/mo | $417/mo | 5 | 700 | 2,500 | 5 | 10 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Figures cross-checked against Trakkr's Scrunch pricing tracker in August 2026. Extra seats are around $25/mo each. Enterprise adds SSO, a data API, hallucination detection and multi-brand workspaces. There is a 7-day trial, though reports differ on whether a card is required — check before you start it.
Three things to read into that table:
- There is no small plan. $250/mo is the floor. A founder tracking one brand pays the same entry price as a mid-market marketing department, which is why most of the traffic to Scrunch comparison pages is people looking for something cheaper.
- The prompt allowances are the best part of the deal. 350 custom plus 1,000 industry prompts at Starter is far more than Profound's 100 at $399/mo or Peec's 50 at about $80/mo. If prompt volume is your constraint, Scrunch is priced well.
- Multi-brand is Enterprise. Agencies and holding companies need a sales conversation to track more than one brand, which prices Scrunch out of most agency stacks before the demo.
One caution on engine coverage. Scrunch's platform spans ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, and Meta AI, with some engines gated to higher tiers. Which engines sit on which plan has changed more than once this year — independent reviewers found in July 2026 that Scrunch was serving different plan lineups to different visitors, including a four-engine "Core" plan alongside the Starter/Growth ladder. Any review of Scrunch more than a month or two old, this one included, may describe a lineup that has since moved. Confirm the engine list for the exact plan you are buying before you sign.
How Scrunch Works Day to Day
Setup begins with a brand profile, your competitors, and a prompt set. This is where Scrunch is unusually strong: rather than starting from a blank box, you pick personas — the buyer types who would plausibly ask about your category — and Scrunch generates and organises prompts against them, then layers on its industry library. For a category where nobody is quite sure which prompts matter, that is a real head start.
From there the daily surface is a visibility dashboard: mention rate and position per prompt and per engine, share of voice against named competitors, sentiment, and the sources each answer cited. Data refreshes on a weekly rather than daily cadence on the self-serve plans, which several reviewers flag as slower than Peec or Otterly.
The two screens that differentiate it are the audits and the crawler analytics. Audits take a page you own and tell you what to change so engines can parse and quote it. Crawler analytics tells you which bots fetched which URLs and how often — knowing that GPTBot has read your docs forty times and your comparison page never is the kind of signal that changes what you write next.
What Scrunch AI Does Well
Prompt volume and persona modelling. More prompts for the money than any comparable tool, organised by who would ask them. If your category has five distinct buyer types, Scrunch is built for that; most competitors make you model it by hand.
Page audits are concrete. Not a score — a list of changes. For a team with writers, that converts directly into work.
Crawler and agent analytics. One of the few tools outside Profound with a log-level view of AI bot traffic, and reviewers consistently rate it among the best in the category.
Enterprise posture, now doubled. SOC 2 Type II, SSO, a data API, and behind it a public company. If procurement is part of your buying process, this clears it more easily than a Series A startup does.
Flat, predictable billing. No credit meter. Next month's invoice is this month's invoice — a real advantage over credit-based tools where turning on a second market silently doubles spend.
Where Scrunch AI Stops
The floor is $250. No trial-to-small-plan path, no free tier. If Scrunch is more platform than you need, there is no smaller version of it to grow into.
Action stops at pages you own. Audits tell you how to change your site. They do not tell you which third-party roundup ChatGPT cites instead of you, who wrote it, or how to get on it. That gap matters more than it sounds: Ahrefs' study of 75,000 brands found branded web mentions correlate about three times more strongly with AI visibility than backlinks do, and roughly 44% of ChatGPT citations land on "best of" list pages — pages you do not own and cannot audit.
Engine coverage per tier is a moving target. See the caution above. It is unusual for a tool at this price to be this hard to pin down, and it makes like-for-like comparison work.
Weekly refresh and no report builder. The most consistent product complaints in independent reviews are the refresh cadence and the absence of a proper report builder — awkward for anyone who has to present results monthly.
Multi-brand needs a contract. Agencies are effectively pushed to Enterprise.
What Users Say
Scrunch is well reviewed. Independent trackers put its G2 rating at roughly 4.6 out of 5, with reviewers praising the audits, the crawler data, the onboarding and the support. The criticisms are specific and product-level rather than sour: weekly rather than daily data, prompt credits consumed faster than expected, no report builder, and hallucination detection — arguably its most interesting feature — locked to Enterprise.
Scrunch AI vs Sightivo
We make Sightivo, so weigh this section accordingly.
| Scrunch AI | Sightivo | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $250/mo annual, $300 monthly, 3 seats | $99/mo, unlimited seats, 2 projects |
| Engines | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode/Overviews, Meta — gating varies by tier | ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Overviews on every plan |
| Prompts | 350 custom + 1,000 industry at Starter | Prompt sets sized for one brand |
| Prompt design | Persona modelling + industry library | You build the set |
| Refresh | Weekly on self-serve | — |
| What happens after a gap is found | Audits the pages you own | Drafts the missing page, lists the sources AI cites, finds the authors and contacts, drafts the outreach, sends it from a built-in inbox |
| Multi-brand | Enterprise only | Solo 2 projects, Indie 4, Studio 10 |
| Ownership | Sitecore (June 2026) | Independent |

The honest summary: Scrunch measures a wider surface with far more prompts and audits your site properly. Sightivo measures a narrower surface and then does the off-site half — the roundups, the authors, the pitch. If you have a content team waiting for a prioritised list of on-page fixes, Scrunch hands them one. If the thing standing between you and a citation is a page on somebody else's site, audits will not get you there.
Scrunch AI Alternatives
The short version: Peec AI for a third of the price with unlimited seats if you mainly need clean reporting; Otterly AI at $29/mo if you only need the numbers; Profound if you were shopping Scrunch for depth rather than price; Athena HQ for a free tier and nine engines to try before a commitment of this size — see our Athena HQ review; Ahrefs Brand Radar if you already live in Ahrefs; Sightivo if you want the gaps acted on. All seven compared by price, coverage and what they do with the data in best Scrunch AI alternatives, and in the wider best AEO tools roundup.
When Scrunch AI Is the Right Choice
- You are a Sitecore customer. This is now the AI visibility layer for your stack, and that integration will only get deeper. It is close to a default choice.
- You are a mid-market or enterprise brand team that needs hundreds of prompts across several buyer personas with flat, predictable billing.
- On-page audits are the action you actually want, and you have writers to act on them.
- Crawler and agent analytics matter to you — you want to know what the bots read, not just what the answers said.
- You need SOC 2 Type II, SSO or a data API, and you would rather buy from a company with a public parent than from a startup.
When to Look Elsewhere
- You are a founder or a small team and $250/mo is the whole tooling budget.
- You are an agency that needs several brands without an enterprise contract.
- You need daily refreshes or client-ready report building.
- You want the tool to find the third-party pages AI cites and get you onto them, not audit the pages you already control.
- You want to try before you buy at this price point — Athena HQ's free tier and Otterly's $29 plan both let you see your own numbers first.
Common Questions
How much does Scrunch AI cost?
Scrunch AI Starter is $300/mo month-to-month or $250/mo billed annually, with 3 seats, 350 custom prompts, 1,000 industry prompts, 3 personas and 5 page audits. Growth is $500/mo monthly or $417/mo annually, with 5 seats, 700 custom prompts, 2,500 industry prompts and 10 audits. Enterprise is custom priced. Extra seats are about $25/mo. Prices checked August 2026.
Did Sitecore buy Scrunch?
Yes. Sitecore announced the acquisition on 3 June 2026. Sitecore did not disclose the financial terms; Bloomberg reported the deal at about $225 million. Scrunch says the platform continues to be sold standalone, existing customers and partners are supported, and the roadmap should accelerate under Sitecore.
Does Scrunch AI have a free plan?
No. There is no free tier and no plan under $250/mo. Scrunch offers a 7-day trial, though reports differ on whether a card is required. If you want to see real data before spending, Athena HQ has a free tier and Otterly AI starts at $29/mo.
What engines does Scrunch AI track?
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, and Meta AI, with some engines gated to higher tiers. The per-tier split has changed more than once during 2026, so confirm the engine list for the specific plan you are buying rather than relying on any review, including this one.
Scrunch AI vs Profound: which is better?
Scrunch gives you far more prompts, persona modelling and page audits at its entry price, with flat billing. Profound has deeper citation analysis, real prompt-volume research and the larger customer base, but its three-engine Growth plan is $399/mo and its $99 plan tracks ChatGPT only. Both are measurement-first tools sold to brand teams. See our Profound review for the detail.
What does Scrunch AI not do?
It does not identify the third-party pages AI engines cite where you are missing, find the people who write them, or run outreach. Its action layer is audits of pages you own. Earned mentions on other people's pages are left to you and your PR team.
Can agencies use Scrunch AI?
Only on Enterprise, where multi-brand tracking lives. Agencies on a budget usually look at Peec AI for unlimited seats, SE Ranking for white-label reporting, or Sightivo Studio for 10 projects with unlimited seats.
Key Takeaways
- Scrunch is a mid-market and enterprise GEO platform with the most generous prompt allowances in its price band, persona-modelled prompt sets, real page audits and strong AI-crawler analytics.
- Starter is $300/mo ($250 annual); Growth is $500/mo ($417 annual); there is nothing below that and multi-brand is Enterprise only.
- Sitecore acquired Scrunch on 3 June 2026 — reportedly around $225 million. The product stays standalone for now, which makes it an easy choice for Sitecore customers and a question worth asking in writing for everyone else.
- Engine coverage per tier moved repeatedly during 2026; verify the list on the plan you are actually buying.
- The action layer stops at pages you own, and that is the half of AI visibility that on-page work cannot reach.
